Does Choice Home Warranty have coverage limits?

Every plan has different limitations and systems or appliances that do not have coverage. For example, if you replace your water heater, the changes you have to make to the inflow and outflow pipes aren’t covered. Choice Home Warranty also places limits on specific appliances. The company may set a limit for the amount of coverage it pays out for specific appliances, for instance. Home warranty plans also do not cover faucet repairs, haul-away, items broken before escrow closes, outdoor equipment (like sprinklers), permit fees, and certain appliances including dryers, garage door openers, refrigerators, and washers.

Examples of coverage limit costs include:

  • $500 limit to access, diagnose, and repair or replace plumbing systems and stoppages
  • $500 limit to access, diagnose, and repair or replace ductwork
  • $500 limit to access, diagnose, and repair or replace a well pump
  • $1,500 limit per contract item for accessing, diagnosing and repairing or replacing

Choice Home Warranty reviews

Choice Home Warranty reviews are available on reputable websites, including the Better Business Bureau and Trustpilot. The company currently is not accredited by the Better Business Bureau, and it has a B rating. A B score means that, out of 100 possible rating points, the company ranges between 80 and 83.99. Rating points range from the company’s complaint volume to any government action against the company.

There are currently over 1,400 Choice Home Warranty reviews on the Better Business Bureau and the company gets an overall one-star rating. Trustpilot, however, has over 10,000 Choice Home Warranty reviews and a current overall four-star rating – a “Great” ranking on the site. Though you can’t sort on BBB to see the average number of negative or positive reviews, you can on Trustpilot. Out of all of the reviews for Choice on Trustpilot, 66% of them are positive.

The bottom line

Because Choice Home Warranty does not deny you coverage based on the age of your home, a warranty through Choice is a good option if you own an older home. Even though there are only two plans, it is still possible to find affordable rates, though both of these plans mean you are unable to choose your service contractor. Additionally, if you live in the state of California or Oklahoma, you cannot receive coverage from Choice Home Warranty.
