The staff of Wallet Hub was determined to answer this for you. They dove into data from the U.S. Census Bureau, Council for Community and Economic Research, U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other state and federal resources.

Using the available data, they analyzed 174 of the most populated U.S. cities, comparing 40 health indicators within four key realms-health care, food, fitness and green spaces.

You don’t have to be a total health nut to be curious about whether yours was dubbed one of the Healthiest Cities in the U.S. Is the city you’ll soon call home healthy and thriving?

1. San Francisco, CA. Highlights: #1 on overall, food and green space rankings

2. Seattle, WA. Highlights :#2 in fitness and green spaces rankings

3. Portland, OR. Highlight: #4 in food ranking

4. San Diego, CA. Highlight: #5 in fitness ranking

5. Washington, DC. Highlight: #3 in green space ranking

6. Burlington, VT. Highlight: #5 in health care ranking

7. Scottsdale, AZ. Highlight: #1 in fitness ranking

8. Honolulu, HI. Highlight: #3 in food ranking

9. Irvine, CA. Highlight: #2 in health care ranking

10. Denver, CO. Highlight: #4 in fitness ranking
