Bearing the name of the street it rises on, the Oriole Way luxury mansion was imagined by California-based studio McClean Design. Spreading over three levels that offer a fascinating collection of downtown Los Angeles views, the elegant modern home was imagined for both social entertaining and private relaxation. With a floor-plan that accesses the best panoramic view from each space, the home opens itself up towards the city below.

Architects explain the challenges they had to overcome to make the owner’s dreams come true: “The challenge was to graft the house onto the hillside and create a suitable entry experience and enough living space bearing in mind the steep topography. Our solution was to separate the garage and parking area from the entry of the house. This took advantage of the street slope to allow pedestrians to enter at the main level of the home while giving us the opportunity to create a water and light filled entry courtyard.”

Light, airy and cheerful, the single family residence showcases bedrooms on the first floor, thus leaving the master bedroom to occupy higher grounds, on the main level. A spacious home cinema, a gym and a wine room were also designed to fit into the lower level, while the main social spaces (living, dining and kitchen) were placed on the main entry level. Up above, on the third level, additional bedrooms create a welcoming space, while a loft space and roof terrace right above the master bedroom expand the panoramic views.

Materials and shapes interweave to compose an amazing modern residence: “The two story living room is a rarity in the neighborhood and coupled with light coming from all sides gives the house an expansive feel. The palette for the house is sleek Hollywood; black and white, shiny and suede making plenty of use of marble, dark granite and chrome as well as high gloss cabinets and custom wall paper.” With a unique infinity edge pool stretching along the main deck, this luxury home sparkles with gratitude for its location, materials and artistic interpretation of modern life.
